Tech Talk - Google Quantum AI Achieves Breakthrough in Generative Quantum Advantage

Researchers from Google Quantum AI, the California Institute of Technology, and Purdue University have achieved a significant breakthrough by demonstrating "generative quantum advantage" - the ability for quantum computers to both learn and generate outputs that classical computers cannot efficiently produce. Using a 68-qubit superconducting quantum processor, the team showed that their quantum models can perform learning and sampling tasks in the "beyond-classical regime," with models that are efficiently trainable while avoiding common pitfalls that typically plague complex quantum systems.

This research proves that certain computational tasks are genuinely beyond the reach of classical systems, moving quantum computing toward creating systems that can learn patterns and generate useful new data in ways traditional computers fundamentally cannot replicate. The implications extend far beyond theoretical computer science, opening new pathways for practical quantum applications in fields ranging from drug discovery and materials science to optimization and artificial intelligence.

Success Story: ServiceNow Modernization Project Delivered 65% Faster with Precision Bridge

A leading global systems integrator was tasked with leading a comprehensive migration from a legacy ServiceNow instance to a modern Greenfield environment for a major enterprise client.

The project scope included migrating Foundation data, CMDB, HR Cases, Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and a custom application - totaling approximately 3 million records plus associated attachments.

With tight project timelines and evolving requirements, the systems integrator made the use of Precision Bridge for this project a pre-requisite based on their previous successful experience with a Remedy-to-ServiceNow migration.

Final Thoughts

We round off this Newsletter with one of our Service Management Migration Guide Hints and Tips. You can get a copy of the full guide by attending one of our Data Migration Webinars.

Tip 11: Migration of Knowledge Articles

Migration of knowledge articles can often be problematic even when the source and target platform are from the same ITSM vendor. In most cases knowledge articles will belong to a knowledge base so if this doesn’t already exist on the target platform, it must either be created manually or migrated from the old one. There are many different types of knowledge articles and the formatting and presentation can be very different for each one. In many cases the articles contain HTML and embedded images which may be stored as references to attachment records.

Untangling these relationships to ensure that you get a reliable presentation of the article on the target instance is never straightforward. It is very likely that you will need to develop some custom code or scripts to support this, especially if the articles are being migrated between different ITSM vendor platforms.

Consider using a third party tool for this activity where the migration of knowledge articles is provided as a built-in feature without the need for any custom development work. This could save a considerable amount of effort, especially if you have a large and varied number of articles.

TIP 11: Consider the best way to transfer knowledge articles from the old platform to the new one.
